Frames and tracks are wiped down with a gentle soap solution first. This isn’t a cosmetic step — it prevents loose dirt, pollen, and debris from being dragged onto the glass during the main clean, which is one of the more common reasons a DIY or rushed cleaning ends up streaky.
For windows flagged with moss or algae buildup during inspection, this is also where that treatment happens — physically removed and treated at the source, not just pushed around.
4. Glass Agitation & Squeegee Work — The Actual Cleaning
A microfiber scrubber loaded with a dish-soap solution (the professional standard — not the spray-and-wipe chemical cleaners that mostly smear existing film around) lifts dirt and lubricates the glass surface. From there, a sharp squeegee blade held at roughly a 40° angle clears the pane in overlapping passes, always working toward the wet edge to prevent water lines.
On larger windows, this is done with a continuous “fanning” motion — top corner to bottom, without lifting the blade — the same core technique used on high-rise glass, scaled to a residential or storefront window. Passes overlap by about 2–3 inches, which is what actually prevents the streaking and missed strips that come from rushed or untrained squeegee work.
